Bright Spot Of Our Day! :)
This morning, coming back from feeding the felines and checking the garden, I noticed movement on the edge of a flower bed. I knew it was a small bird but, when it didn't fly away at my approach, I stopped and took a closer look! :)
It was a baby duckling, and it was headed for the back yard, and our four felines! :) That would Never Do! :) ... I scooped it up and walked to the two water areas near our property, looking for it's mother! When no mother duck was found, I made the decision to bring it inside, prepare a comfortable box for it, and made some quick phone calls in it's behalf! :)
While I showered and got ready for a quick road trip, this adorable Wood Duck chick made herself right at home! :) She found a favorite spot in Rud's warm hand! :)
She found, and tried out, the little dish of water! :)
Then she went back to the corner of the box, and waited. :) ...
As we drove to her new home with a veterinarian, she peep peeped in the box until Rud nestled her in the warmth of his hand where she would go quiet and close her eyes in contentment! :) When he'd place her back in the box, she's start peeping her frustration until he held her in his hand again. So there she stayed for the length of the trip! :)
Soon we arrived and past her to her new care giver, and left this little duckling in more capable hands! :) ... I have to say, this little girl was the bright spot of our day! :)

Do You See What I See? :)
How nice of you to stop by! :) Come take a stroll with me in the yard and we'll see what's going on. This time of year there's always something! :)
Look! There are band-tail pigeons at the feeders! :)
Mick has found us! He likes to follow me around the yard! :)
Oh! There's Sylvester and Apollo, too! Looks like we have feline shadows! :)
Isn't that a pretty color? It's between pink and coral and I like it's soft cream center. Those yellow-gold stamens really set it off! :)
The boys act like they're not paying attention to us, but they just Happen to be wherever we are! :)
Look! It's such a nice day that even Gerdy's decided to join us! :)
Do you see someone peeking at us, from the flower bed? :)
If you look close you'll see Mick laying in his favorite garden spot! :)
There are a variety of plants and colors to see in this flower bed, right now! :)
Yep! Sylvester's still shadowing us! :)
I love the graceful habit of these trees! :)
We planted at least three of them! :)
If you glance down you'll see the felines are still with us! :)
Now that the pigeons have left the other birds are coming to the feeders! :)
They even eat the seed that drops to the ground, ... as long as the cats aren't near them! :)
The American Gold Finch like to congregate in this tree before fluttering down to the feeders! There's often around 20 of them here at a time! :)
I don't know about you but the hammock calls to me! I'm happy to have made a few minutes to relax in it earlier today! :)
Don't the flowers look especially pretty with the sunlight playing upon them! :)
It makes them all look extra colorful! :)
Thanks for the visit! It was fun to have you stop by! :) Let's be sure to do this again! :) The yard is ever changing and it's always fun to see what the seasons bring! :)

There's Something New In The Garden! :)
There's something new in the garden this year! :)
A couple of the tomato plants I bought were getting too large for their pots and I was eager to get them planted, so they could flourish! :)
I felt it couldn't wait so bought a new mesh green house, and my Honey helped me assemble it! :)
Mick came to check out my work after I tended the soil and got the plants in the ground! :)
I never bothered to remove the mesh cover on our old one, and the Winter winds blew it about, even though I left the doors and windows open. The windows on one side got battered against the fence. It was time to replace the mesh cover but that would take time, and the tomato plants couldn't wait!
So out with the old and in with the new! :) ... Only now I'm wondering if I can yet order a new cover for the old one and continue to use it, too, or someone else could use it? :)
This year I've planted 6 tomato plants. (There's enough space for 8.) I chose 1 Sungold cherry tomato; 1 Juliet (for salsa); and 4 Big Beef for fresh eating and for canning! :)
Another thing that's new in our garden, this year, is a planting of sweet peas! I've always loved their fragrance and decided to grow them! If they do well I'll place a bouquet on our dining room table! :)
This type gets 10" - 12" tall. Just enough to reach half way up this trellis! :)
I also planted a large pot of herbs near the front door where they will be easy to clip and use in our meals! :)
In just a couple of weeks it will be time to plant the garden seeds! I can hardly wait! It's helped to have other gardening to do, gearing up for that! :)
Are you planning anything new in your garden!? :)
