The Lens Looking Back! :)

When I see my own reflection in the lens, I'm reminded why I much prefer pointing the lens out-ward to my amazing surroundings!! :) While my eyes fill with appreciation and wonder as I look at the world around me, - I tend to be more critical of my own reflection. ... I see the makeup that was uneven at the end of the day; the glasses that happen to be at a slight slant at that moment; the yellowed teeth that I've been actually thinking about spending money to have my dentist whiten; the gray that is invading my brown hair; ...and the excess weight that I am determined to lose in my fight to get fit! :)
Some of my friends started a fitness group with me last fall, and I'm happy to say that I just dropped a jean size!! :) I have a long way to go to reach my fitness goals, but I believe I will get there! :) Maybe when I do, it'll be a little easier to have the lens looking back at me, who knows!
I guess maybe it's just human nature to be critical of our own image, where we are accepting of others.
The thing IS, - the lens reveals much more about who I am when I'm looking through it, than when it's looking back at me! :)
I love this beautiful world we live in, and I can see and feel the love our Heavenly Father has for us in all the beauty I see around us! I hope as I look through the lens, you will see and feel some of His love for us too!! :) I hope my blog, in some small way, helps you Enjoy The Journey!! :)

  1. I think you are beautiful. Your teeth are not yellow. You are way too critical of yourself! You are also brave to put a close up on your blog.

  3. BJ...you feel the same way as most of us do.
I think that you are a beautiful person, with a glowing soul that radiates out! You have such a wonderful outlook on life, I love to hear what you have to say.

Good job on dropping a jean size! Just keep at it and DON'T give up, even when you think that it isn't working...keep fighting!!

  4. Thanks Clarissa! :)
I think it's appropriate that you counciled me to "keep fighting!!" We, in the fitness group, now refer to ourselves as Ninjas, because trying to lose excess weight, and getting fit, IS an ongoing Fight! :) I imagine us clad in black, flying through the air, with our swords gleaming in the light! grin It can be an exhilarating experience when we see the results of our efforts! When that next pound comes off, when clothes start fitting a little nicer, or a little too lose, when energy levels are increased, when mobility is improved, etc. ... the fight becomes enjoyable!
You are a great example of not giving up, with that marathon you ran!! :) I count myself fortunate to have your friendship, to work a little more closely with you now, at church, and to enjoy observing your great example! :) You have my sincere admiration!! :) Hugs! :)

  5. BJ, when I saw this post I knew I had to comment. You are such a beautiful woman. I know none of us are super models, but isn't it amazing how average woman like us can be the envy of others because our Spirits exude a beauty that makeup and the most instyle clothes can never replicate. I'm sure when Rud saw you those many years he knew he thought he would be a fool to let a woman like you get past him. You give the rest of us younger gals hope that we can still be as beautiful and youthful as you when we get a few years of exsperiance under our belt. Thank you for always being the person you are. We love you and think you are great:)
